Pro Tips
1. Clean Your Board
Purpose: Removes salt, wax, sand, and oils so the coating can bond correctly.
How to do it:
Rinse your board thoroughly with fresh water.
Use a gentle surfboard-safe cleaner or mild soap to remove grime.
If your board has wax, remove all wax first using:
a wax comb
a gentle heat source (sunlight for a few minutes)
Dry the board completely with a clean microfiber towel.
Board must be 100% clean and dry before moving on.
2. Prep the Surface (Optional but Recommended)
Purpose: Helps the coating attach more effectively.
How to do it:
Wipe the board with isopropyl alcohol (IPA) 70–90% using a fresh microfiber towel.
This removes any leftover oils or residue.
3. Apply Ceramic Surf Sauce
What you need:
Ceramic Surf Sauce bottle
Included applicator pad or soft microfiber sponge
How to do it:
Shake the bottle well.
Add a small amount of product to the applicator pad — start with a thin line or a few drops.
Apply in straight-line motions (not circles), working in small sections:
top deck
rails
bottom
Make sure each section gets an even, thin layer.
Avoid applying too thick — a thin, even coating performs best.
4. Let the Coating Flash
Purpose: “Flashing” allows the ceramic coating to bond before buffing.
How to do it:
After applying to a section, wait 30–60 seconds until you see a light haze.
The surface may look slightly rainbow-like or foggy — this is normal.
Time varies with heat and humidity. If it dries immediately, apply less product.
5. Buff the Surface
What you need:
Clean, dry microfiber towel (high quality)
How to do it:
Gently buff the hazed area using light pressure.
Keep wiping until the surface looks glossy, slick, and streak-free.
Flip the towel often to a clean side.
Move to the next section and repeat.
6. Allow to Cure
Purpose: Gives the ceramic coating time to fully harden.
Cure times:
Initial cure: 1–2 hours (board can be handled lightly)
Full cure: 12 hours
Best performance cure: 24 hours
Important:
Keep the board dry during curing.
Avoid sand, surf, or water exposure until curing is complete.
7. Optional: Apply a Second Layer
For maximum slickness and longevity.
How to do it:
Wait 1 hour after the first layer.
Apply a second thin coat using the same steps.
Let cure 24 hours before surfing.
Maintenance (After Application)
To keep your coating performing its best:
Rinse your board with fresh water after each session.
Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
Reapply every 1–2 years, depending on use and conditions.
